What is GLOBAL DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY(GDD)?
Global developmental delay (GDD) is a term used when a child takes longer to reach certain development milestones than other children their age. This might include learning to walk or talk, movement skills, learning new things and interacting with others socially and emotionally. It is a form of intellectual disability. GDD does not have a specific set of symptoms like other diagnoses but instead refers to general delays that cannot be more specifically identified at the time of the assessment. Deficits commonly observed leading to a diagnosis of GDD include: delays in motor skills (including crawling and walking), difficulty with fine motor skills, language.

Family Involvement
EAS highly encourages parents to be actively involved in their child’s therapy program. Family involvement could include sitting in for a song, being present for activities or simply having an open line of communication with your child’s therapist. It will also help your child’s therapist to observe interactions between you and your child or your child and a sibling. Being actively involved in your child’s behavioral therapy sessions can allow our team to provide helpful feedback and even create new goals for your child’s home-based ABA therapy program.
